Default Got It Handed to Me...BAD!

Just ran an LS1 M6 Trans Am, and to say I got my *** handed to me would be an understatement. It wasnt stock by any means. Turns out he had a Tune, Cat Back, Lid, Pulleys, TB, CAI , ORY, TB bypass, DeScreen MAF. Now....what do I do?? Whats the fastest route to suprising this guy? With maybe 2,000 to 2,500 Help me spend the money wisely. I dont like being burned so bad. Damn! Should I shoot straight for the 4.10s and 3,200 stall and then go back to exhaust, or exhaust then gears and stall?....Followed by bolt on frenzy?

I'm sorry to say, but his car was hardly "modded". You say it wasn't stock by any means like he has a built engine. Sorry for the loss.

He has a time slip for 12.6's I think it qualifies as "not stock by any means". I have driven some LS1s and the wouldnt hold a candle to this thing. Maybe he had some gears too? Who knows. all I know it he kicked my ***. I know what you can do to LS1's BUT I want to know what I should do. Besides Nitrous. Surely I can do it without nitrous....no? Oh...and compared to my car.....his **** is nowhere near stock. I dont have damn thing yet. Time to step up my A game I guess huh? If I wanted an LS1 I would have bought one. I just want to work on putting some LS1s behind me. The ones around here seem to be awful cocky. Someone needs to take em down a notch.

Basically your gonna have to spend a decent amount of money to handle beating up on most of the LS1's. Even with a decent amount of bolt-ons, LS1's start to become quite the animal above 70 mph. My car runs 12.60's @ 109 with just about every bolt-on you can do to a LT1. My car is on the heavy side being a fully optioned WS6 T/A. Many LS1's will work you hard above 85/90 mph, but I can usually manage to clean-up 90% of the LS1's with what I got. It's that damn other 10% that get you everytime

I got my *** handed to me by an old 5.0 Mustang with some **** done to it. He had a 351 Supercharged, 5spd with gears. I have to find him again when I get the 383 in and broke in...

The mods he has a very minor, and don't do a whole lot for hp. My friends 02' has a stall, lid/catback and runs 12.4's all day long. This other guy I know has a 98 with those same mods and runs 12.5's. He ran 13.0's stock.

the reliable route for LS1-killing hp is heads/cam, since heads are the primary advantage of LS1s over LT1s. But that's beyond your budget, I think.

Stall, long tubes, and a cam may do it, something like a comp306. It may not be enough to beat him but it will get you close, and should stay in your budget I would think.

he was pretty much stock from what you are saying. they got 3-5/10ths to start with. They run 12s very easy.

You want to play there it is going to be full bolt ons and heads and cam. Just the way it is....

Gotta pay to play right? I will slowly spill money into my car. The whole "budget" is just the money I am gonna be getting from selling my Galaxie to my father. It wont stop there, it will just be a process. I enjoy having an LT1 and dont mind being the underdog. Just makes it that much sweeter when u do pull someone. I think the whole world is chasing LS1's . All motors seem to get to a point where the playing field levels. Just so happens the ol LT's need a lil more to get there I guess. Gonna start the ball rolling with some 4.10s and my Cat Back.

200 shot, LT's, heads, cam, and gear. My old roomate has an LS1 with h/c stock bottom end, Kooks and a 200 shot and his car runs 6.5x's in the 1/8th.His car has frieght trained quite a few cars. If you got the money buy the 9 second car or build one

I don't think the LT1 is the underdog to any cars. Take a 94 Mustang VS a 94 F-body, or anything in 94 to 97 for that matter. The LS1 builds of years of SBC technology. With technology comes more power. LT1, LS1, LS2, LS7 and so on and so forth.
They are just different. I see just as much hating for the LSX motors in here as I do for the LT1 motors by the LSX hung up guys. Me...You can ask anyone, I am just a
GM kinda guy and a F-body *****...94, 96, 98, 01 Z28s and one 00 Trans Am WS6 don't know how that happened.
There was also a GTP and 1991 Corvette in there.
