WELL THE CAR HAD A SLIGHT GRINDING NOISE FROM THE FRONT OF THE MOTOR THAT WOULD COME AND GO....THEN ON THE WAY TO WORK CAR BACKFIRED TWICE THEN SHUT DOWN, STARTED CAR BACK UP AND BABIED IT HOME.....STARTED IT UP AFTER WORK AND IT HAS A REAL BAD IDLE, AND BACKFIRES IF YOU REV IT UP......NOW CAR JUST KICK OVER AND WONT START, AND IT EXHALES OUT OF THE INTAKE WHEN YOU TRY TO START IT.....SOMEONE SAID IT SOUNDS LIKE I JUMPED A TOOTH OF STRETCHED THE **** OUT OF THE CHAIN? WHAT DO YOU THINK? I WAS REALLY HARD ON HER THAT WEEKEND TOO I RAN HER 8 TIMES AT THE TRACK AND DROVE HER 500 MILES BACK HOME THAT WEEKEND. 99k MILES A4

Sounds like the Opti Spark fell apart, not the chain. You don't have enough **** on it to stretch the Chain. I would check the Opti first.

Says it won't even start. Check the Opti first, that is where I would go.

check for codes in the comp.. if it has anything to do with optical sensor... more than likely the opti is shot...

Default Timing Chain Update!

well i pulled everything today the water pump, and distributor......well when i took the distributor off i heard a bunch of loose stuff inside of it i haven taken it apart but it sounds really bad so i am pretty sure thats the problem......that would explain the grinding noise that came and went from time to time. i will post pics soon. thanks to everyone that gave me insight.

The Hotcam, lots of people still pass emissions with it, even with the AIR stuff gone. Then again California is really messed up with that stuff...

99k miles would seem like an opti to me, I would start there, you should be able to get an opti for around $210 or so from Jason Cromer.... I really doubt its the timing chain, since it would not run at all if the chain broke

You can take it apart and rebuild it. Summit has the pieces. Heard the MSD's are good ones.
