Default Crankwalk ????

Hey guys im posting this under kyle's user name.

I was tearing into my car(96 LT1) to do some mods and change the Opti. When i took the balancer off i saw that the hub was able to move in and out about 1/4 to 1/2 an inch????. And you can hear what i guess is the crank gear hitting the timing cover when you pull on it.

Now could this just be the timing chain?

Or Main Bearings?

The car does have 200K on it and im the first to take any bolts loose on her. It still had the stock wires and really looked to be the stock opti. I know it needs a timing chain but i have never seen one(even a really worn one) make a crank move that much.

Give me some input guys

Thanks

The stock timing chains are pretty loose to begin with. Sounds more like the thrust bearings are worn out letting the crank move back and forth.
