Default Just when my car is running great..

Alright, lil back ground info. I have been at this car for three days, header gaskets and spark plugs. So I get the car all done, take it over to autozone to get my SES light re-read ( its always on b/c of !air ) and I had a random missfire, yet the light wasn't blinking. So I drive home, pop the hood, check my wires, yup there all one, no big deal. so I use simple green and gunk and clean my engine bay down with a LIGHT mist of water, NOT pressure washer, I took the hose, and barly sprayed it, just like I have ALWAYS done since I had the car. So I go to start the car and nothing. The pump primes, the car turns over, it won't fire. ****. So I go in and shower, and go back out, dry down the bay extra good with air, and goto start the car, it cranked about 10 times then fired, and ran. Just as I let the clutch out to go close the hood and take her for a drive, it died, I closed the hood and went to start it again and nothing. I am begining to hate this car, driving it after the !exhaust leak mod was pure sex, car was so smooth, better than ever, now this. Whats your guess?

pull one of the spark pug wires off and put a spark plug on it and see if your getting spark on a few cylinders

delete, car started and I romped it up and down the freeway a bit, then let it idle for like 10 mins, and then drove it around town for 30 mins, shes running better, still not 100 persent, but better

Maybe it's the opti. They really hate getting wet - even a little bit.

will it restore itself back to 100%? It still backfires at times on deceleration. This happend once before.

that is your opti's way of saying **** you for getting it wet it could possibly come back to 100% but who knows how long it could take to get the moisture out of the opti

do what i did and get he dynaspark from dynotech engineering its sealed much better to the point where they say you can hose down the engine and it vented i havn't had any problems with mine thus far

You definitely got the opti wet and then it dried out, only thing that makes sense.

Next time you spray anything into the engine bay put something over the opti first.

So is the dynaspark better than the new msd opti? Also, with the new msd opti, does it come with a MSD cap and rotor? I swear I could sneeze on my opti and it would start missfireing..

the dynaspark is definitely not better than the msd opti.

The dynaspark is basically a stock opti with a few parts from a different manufacturer.

better sparks i believe but besides that its actauly gonna do its job alot better

Yeah, the MSD is supposed to be awesome compared to the stock one, (Which might not be saying much...lol), but it is supposed to be much more reliable. Even if you can't afford a whole new distributor, it still would be benificial to at least get the MSD cap. It can take a very long time to get the moisture out of your stock opti.
