Default .600+ Lift on a DD?

Ive been searching for a good set of heads and thinking about cams too.

But i always stop looking at flow numbers after .600

Like when i look at heads I stop looking at them if they still flow very well after .600 becuase i dont think im going to be up that high.

What do you guys think about Higher lift on DDs?

Do you think .600 is ***** and i should be up higher?

I have well over a .600. I havent tested my car on the road yet...

I know some very few people with higher lifts that drive it everyday. I dont see a problem with it.

.590 lift with 1059 miles on my new 383 and my plan is to drive it everyday. The car performs awesome so far and have yet to exceed 5500 rpm waiting for 1500 miles and then change the rev limiter pill to 6500 and run that for a while before I run the 240 HP shot of fogger NOS. This cam would have also worked well in a 355 cid.

will be fine for say 10k miles or until it starts to smoke. The problem is worn out Valve guides and springs

Damn I think my car got 6 miles before it hit the rev limiter the first time

So pretty much .600 isnt for a DD.

I better start looking for smaller heads.

.590 net lift on my 383 and it has 7K on it now without an additional lash adjustment. It's a Vortech-blown 383 and I run an entire Comp Cams valvetrain on it. Used an adjustable pushrod to determine the right pushrod length. Came out a perfect sweep across the valvestem.

If you do everything right I don't see why .630" - .650" isn't doable, but might need more frequent adjustments.
