Default Which sounds better

I was just wondering what sounded better.

A GMMG on an LS1 or on an LT1
Stock

And how different do they sound.

Sound is ALL opinion. Just like color.

You can have two cars side by side and still disagree with which one sounds better.

The LT1 engine weighs about 100 pounds more than the LS1, so It usually has a deeper tone, and people that have heard both would tell you the majority of votes would be on the LT1 side.

But there is no winner. If anyone tells you different, they are ignorant, stuck up and need a firm kick in the gooch.

True duals on any V-8 would sound good.

Weight isnt really a factor in determing sound its more due to the fact of different materials the blocks are made out of one being aluminum the other iron, different firing orders, different cams and different motors in all ways all together.

Block material is different playing in to the sound rather than weight, Lt1 and LS1s have different cam specs even stock, the entire motors are designed very different from one another that changes the way they sound. Weight isnt the reason why they sound different.

Sound incredible on both but IMO better on the LT1, I personally like the sound of an LT1 over an LS1 anyday but thats just my opinion.

I agree with that statement completely as long as the LT1 isn't running either a Borla or Loudmouth with some type of header/ORY set-up. I'd take the sound of my LS1 w/ GMMG + LT's (catted Y) anyday over those exhaust set-ups on an LT1...

Mike

P.S. I really miss the tone of my old '95 Z28 Although I'm having a 3" true dual set-up w/ no cats, H-pipe, & two 1-chamber Flowmasters (dumped) installed next week.

It's totally opinion, but 90% of (non-biased) GM enthusiasts will say that the LT1 sounds better. Tony, one of the owners of this site, can't stand LT1s but he still admits that they sound like beasts and he prefers their exhaust tone to that of the LS1.

Weight has less to do with sound, it's all in the firing order. The material also plays a big part, as bizzzatch said. That's why most V-10s sound like ****. Iron > Aluminum when it comes to how a car sounds as far as material goes. Now Mustangs... that's a totally different story. They sound just awesome with any catback. Ford really has their **** together in that department. Must be the firing order.

Yeah I agree, my buddy has LM on his Stang and it sounds like ***. I know its a Stang and not an F-Body but still. Your car will sound incredible with the Flowmasters dumped!

With a Loudmouth, ORY and Headers, you have virtually NO backpressure. My Z28 is loud at idle really loud when I get on it, and awesome when I peg it. But I have mids, and a cat.

A loudmouth is pretty much 3'' Straightpipes, with 2 1/2" Y's at the end.

Well I am thinking GMMG because I really want a stainless steel system with a more refined muscle tone. I don't necessarily want loud cus I have a cutout and don't like it, I want a muscle sound very refined.

A Loudmouth is Stainless.
A GMMG is a kickass exhaust, you can't go wrong there. If you have the benjemins, get it.
