Washers for head bolts???

Default Washers for head bolts???
Hi all,
I am replacing the aluminum heads on my 95 LT-1 and was looking in a book and it shows that aluminum heads should have washers under the head bolts. I bought new head bolts but they didnt come with any washers and when i took the other heads off the block it didnt have washers either. Does anyone know which is right???

ARP sells the bolts you want to use, they include the washers which are chamfered on one side which goes on a certain way.
