Radiator & Low Coolant light PROBLEM!!
Ok, I need some help with this one guys....
I drive about 10-15 minutes to work almost everyday in this west texas heat, and when the temp gets a little over a 1/4 on the thermo it throws a Low Coolant light. Now, once it did that I popped the hood and got it on a ramp and noticed that my coolant thingy (where you check it) is full, as well as the top of the radiator itself. What the hell is going on??? I caught a leak that seemed to be going into the dash of my car (heater?) and everything seems to be fine as far as leakage now that i fixed it. What am I doing wrong? Why is it giving me this? Could something be stopped up inside of a hose somewhere restricting coolant flow? It doesn't get too hot on me, (< 1/2way on gauge) I'm stumped. -b

Mine did this also. It was a bad coolent level sensor in mine. Wasnt on all the time, but i checked it many times and it was always right where it was supposed to be. If it really bothers you replace the sensor and be done with it, if not its not going to hurt anything.

I had that same problem in my bird. I didn't get a new sensor, just got a new radiator because it had holes in the old one. I didn't want to spend the money to get a new sensor, and anytime the radiator gets low, I know it, because it's usually spewing out a hose that came off or blew a hole in it. I would just unplug it, and check it each night after you fill up on gas, or in the morning to let it cool off. Those sensors suck ***.

So it could be a sensor? I guess it makes sense since I fixed the one leak I had. Where is this sensor anyway? And also, does it really cost around 300 dollars to have a tune? I called a place out here in Lubbock and they said it's around 350 for an LS1, and the only other place he knew of that tuned LT1s was in Oklahoma! Dubya Tee Eff?

I guaruntee the low coolant light is just a bad sensor. Happened to me after i was having some cooling problems and it kept scaring the crap out of me that I was low again. Mine would also come on after the car warmed a little. Got a new one and no problems so far.
