Rounded vale stem tip...Do I need to yank the head?

Rounded vale stem tip...Do I need to yank the head? Had a rocker failue and the stem tip mushroomed and is rounded over a bit. I ground off the flashing (mushroomed lip).
I have two options.
1. Lash caps and NOT pull the head.
2. Yank the head and replace the valve.
I would prefer not to yank the head but is that nescessary I will do it.
Suggestions please.
