How much power do you want to make?, the stock crank can handle a decent amount. Otherwise I recomend Scat as a low-budget forged crank/rod supplier, and Mahle or Wiseco pistons. How much can you spend? That will deterimine what parts to use...

Like said above, Cost is going to be the bigest factor on what parts you get and how much power you can make.

I would like to make 400-450rwhp and tq. But also be reliable enough to take out for a drive and have alittle fun. I am an A4 right now but will be doing the M6 conversion at the time of engine build. I really basicly want a low 12 sec daily driver out out of it. Im just wondering if i should bult it all becasue i have about 74k on the motor and will probably have alittle more before i build it. If the crank would still be good what should i look at replacing should I have the stock crank re done and balanced instead of getting a new 1. I dont plan on going over 450rwhp unless i get lucky somehow lol. i am notgoing to run any F/I or nitous just N/a

Speed-o-motive has some good kits. They can also put together what ever you want. I had a stock, stroke and bore, forged kit priced for $2000 but they also have 391 stroker kits.

74K and motor runs good still? I wouldn't build it with that mileage. Do some heads maybe and a cam... I can't see building a good motor!

you want low 12's keep your a4 spend money on getting it built...get some 3.23, better 3.73 3500 stall and an le2 package and that will be 11 on motor...hit it with a 75-100 shot and youll be LOW 11

Another vote for heads and cam. My car with the Advanced Induction 190cc package does 12.9 in horrible weather on a poor track, AND IS A CAPRICE with roughly 100K on the shortblock. Some of the more serious b-body racers think 11s are in the bag for me come fall, this package would have no problem with that on a lighter f-body provided you made it hook. Current best is 12.5 in late june, was a nice night for june but still not fall or spring weather.

i agree with 96caprice, get an AI head/cam combo and keep the block as is. I am going with their 190cc head/cam kit also and an upgrade for valvetrain offered through them for my build but my block has 173k on it even though it doesnt show the mileage at all being how clean the whole thing is inside.
