Ignition question, please help! :) Ok... I'm still pretty new at all this stuff, and I need some guidance here.
When would it be beneficial for me to upgrade to ... lets say a MSD ignition & coil?
Here are my questions:
1) Whats different between that & stock?
2) Why upgrade?
3) What will I gain?

for starters, it sounds about time to possibly do an ignition upgrade. second, to my understanding an ignition upgrade just gives you more power through your ignition system ie. bigger, better, stronger spark. usually useful once you've got more more air and fuel going into the chamber. you need that extra spark to make sure the A/F in the chamber is bing used to its potential otherwise its like saturating your spark.
in short: bigger spark w/ more fuel and air = bigger boom in chamber = more power

well i'm guessing since you have the cc306 you have head work done which means your flowing more air and fuel into the chamber so in my opinion you should increase the spark with the already increased A/F. but i do think a lot of people that up grade have nitrous. you might see an increase in HP but it might run a bit warmer. remember power adders should compliment each other and thats where you find substancial power gains. just made up #'s...you might gain 7 HP upgrading your ignition now but lets say you have a well tuned nitrous, turbo or S/C car you might gain 15 HP by doing the same upgrade.
