He was told it was a 94 vette engine.

I understand, I just went a little further in detail.
And I was correcting you on the valve covers issue.

well if it's aluminum heads its either Y or F body. Cast Heads it's B-car. get a magnet, or look at plug orientation. Al heads have angled plugs, us Cast Head boys dont..

It's probably not what you expected... but the family needs the cargo room and I need the hp + 6 speeds :

Curb weight with the V8 should be ~3300lbs. I guess if 'Vettes never came with T56s then I'll have a good idea it's an f-body engine/trans if it has a T56.

From the fleaBay description (editted for LT1 content):

1986/1994 VOLVETTE 740 TURBO WAGON
345 HORSEPOWER CORVETTE ENGINE WITH 14000 MILES
LT1 6 SPEED CORVETTE TRANSMISSION WITH 14000 MILES
EDITOR'S CHOICE AWARD SUPER CHEVY MAGAZINE
$30,000.00 + INVESTED (HAVE RECEIPTS)
118,000 VOLVO 14,000 CORVETTE
STAINLESS TWIN INTAKE PACKAGE W/TWIN K & N'S
INJECTION AIR FOIL
VERY TRICK COMPUTER READS FROM MANIFOLD

I won the auction and I'm not sure if I can negotiate since I can't definitively prove it's not a "Corvette" engine. When asked about veification of the engine mileage the seller's response was "JUST RECEIPT WHERE ENGINE WAS PURCHASED NEW" so I will see that when I pick it up Saturday.

I disagree on the valve cover issue. Yes it's 93-96 but Im almost sure the 92's got magnesium or something. Anyways Ill look through my books to see if youre correct.

That could be a very cool car. If you do get it, PLEASE clean up the wiring and hoses under the hood. The wiring looks terrible. Car looks clean tho. Wagons are cool - especially if they have 6-speeds in 'em.

I was right. The 92 Vettes got the same valve covers the L98 Vettes got, well I know for sure they didnt get the valve covers shown above.

I'd be willing to bet it's an F-body LT1. Check the waterpump design and that will at least tell u if it's an F or Y car and not a Bcar LT1

I had an LT1 Vette. Those valve covers are most definately not the one's that come on a Vette.

I hope the car is as nice as it looks (the engine bay definitely needs to be cleaned up - which will give me a good chance to check for problems).

This is the what the engine bay should look like: (Yellowbrick's LT4 Volvo)

All this speculation could be resolved if someone would just look at the serial numbers on the engine.

A dealer could tell you in minutes where it came from.

I've got another vote that's it's an F-body unit. Note the location of the fuel pressure regulator..

That's a clean LT4 install.
