autos have a little bit more powertrain loss as opposed to standards. i'm not sure how much differecnce tho, off-hand. someone else will reply with exact numbers, i'm sure.
The 4L60E is not as power hungry as the old TH400s and stuff so 18-20% is a good number for them.
You get the same HP increase from mods you just wont see as much at the tires on the dyno, on the track though it takes a great driver to make a M6 out perform a well setup stalled auto.

From Friends of mine cars to my car On 2 didfferent cars I seen a difference of 11hp tq was about 18ft lbs. This was on 2 different LS1 cars but pretty similar for LT1's from some of the dyno results i seen posted
