Default LT1/LT4 Head Comparision Idea

You never really see LT1/LT4 head comparisions in magazines. Specifically a high HP application.

I think it would be cool to see a ported set of LT1's that have been done by any of the shops around. Regardless of who does them you are reach a limit around 290cfm at .650 lift.

I would then like to take that same car and put a super whip set of LT4 type castings on it. Kind of shows an insentive for people to buy the aftermarket heads, and specifically why the LT4 type head is better.

Perhaps even a stock LT4 versus an aftermarket LT4.

What are some of your ideas?

I have a set of LT4 heads CNC'd then cleaned up by hand with 2.02 1.60 valves. And they flowed close to 300 cfms. If that is of any help to you.

I am not looking for numbers, just looking for opinions more or less.

Would these be an article worth reading. I know a few magazines folks and wanted to make a suggestion to them.

I have a set of LT1 castings and they flow 297 @ .600(2.055" intake). Usually the LT4's will be on an average of 10 to 15 cfm higher over the LT1's on a similar or same port job. Just depends on really the skill and know how of the head porter and how much you want to spend to get the performance you want. I think it'd be interesting, I'd read it.

I think that would be an interesting comparison, will probably answer a lot of questions for a lot of skeptical people..

I think the scenario is played out which is why you don't really see them anymore. It's already been shown that the gains are minimal at best. And you can get the LT1's to flow more than 300 if your willing to pay for it. Most people realize its not worth it when you can get an aftermarket bare casting and flow more for less.

Thing is, for what most people do 300 cfm LT1 heads would be fine
