94 LT1 overheating help
94 LT1 overheating help not my car, but the same year as my car
Owner had only 2.5 qts of oil in it so i filled her up
also had to put in one gallon of radiator fluid in the resevoir
the car continues to overheat but i also notice the fan does not kick on at all, when i start the car *considering it had been over heating the fan would kick on since its past 225* I can hear the fan try to start but it just stops and doesnt turn on.
Is replacing a radiator fan on these cars hard or anything special i should need to know or any other ideas on what could be causing it to over heat, i dont believe its a blown head gasket or leaking radiator, no liquid is seen and no oil is being burned/seen spitting out

I had the same problem. GM has the fans set to come on at such high temps, and when the fans finally do come, they can't do much about it.
Does the car have good temps, when it is rolling down the highway..
If so, just have some one flash the fans for you. I had a guy set my first fan to come on at like 190 and the second, around 200. I still need to get a 160 degree thermostat, but my car doesn't get hot now. I can sit in traffic for an hour in Charlotte and the needle won't move.

fan clutch is practically what starts/disengages the motor on the fans.

Put the heater control on the A/C setting. If the fans don't come on then it's the relay, fuse, fans, or wiring.

I had this problem with my uncle's 94 Z/28. Fans would only come on when the A/C was on. First I replaced all 3 relays....nothing. Next, I replaced both coolant temp sensors, one on the drivers side head behind the #1 exhaust port, then the one close to the water pump....nothing. The opti took a dump next and when the mechanic pulled the water pump off, he said 1/2 the bearings were gone. So, with a new opti, new water pump and a stock temp thermostat, the car stays at 180*. I would replace the water pump and thermostat.
