Default 97 with TH-350 trans

I have a buddy that says he is going to put a turbo 350 in place of his 4l60e. I am trying to tell him that its gonna take a lot more work and he will need a pcm reprogram he insisits he can just have the PCM flashed. Is it even possible to just bolt a TH-350 in place of the 4l60e without any other mods and will it even make any kinda of performance gain or difference.

i think he will need...flywheel...th350, converter, shifter linkage cut the console...new crossmember, new driveshaft...after all that he will need a tune...

its much easier to get your 4l60-e built...a built th350 is only as strong as a built 4l60-e
over on cz28.com a sponsor frank cahalll builds badass 4l60-e i have one and beat the **** out of it...well worth the money and cheapest race build of any 4l60-e builder out there
and he backs his stuff

Thats what i thought I have a 4l60e with the stage 2 trans go and love it its takes all kinds of abuse and still shifts like a dream. Oh well he will just have to find out the hard way.

its possible you dont have to do anythign with the PCM but you could reflash it as a 6 speed, but I would deff. get a built 4L60E instead

That's a matter of opinion. If youre willing to sacrafice O/D the TH-350/450 benifits outwiegh the hassles of dealing with a 4l60e. If you do a search you will see MANY people have done this swap, many. It's not that hard. Im doing it soon when my 4l60 craps itself.

Dood it is a cake swap. Matter of bolting it up... lil PCM reflash... and ripping around... there are a TON of benefits... stronger, lighter, cheaper...

Buy a dip stick, tranny, crossmember, reflash and you are set. with a th350 you can even use the stock driveline.

You are making it sound WAY WAY harder than it is...

Real simple swap and depending on what you are wanting, it is cheaper than having the A4 rebuilt.

you can reused the stock DS, stock flywheel, stock crossmember, heck the stock TA can be used if you want.

I did the conversion. As others have said, it's not that difficult.

You need to re-flash the ECM to get rid of all the tranny codes.

Stock flexplate can be used.
Stock shifter and cable can be used.
I bought an experimental BMR crossmember from Thunder.
Stock torque arm.
B&M torque arm mount.
Stock driveshaft can be used with long-tail TH350.
Madman dipstick tube.
Dakota Digital speedo sensor ($20).
Torque converter is not interchangable.

I broke 2 4L60E's in 3 months with 480 rwhp. I then switched to a $650 TH350 with a billet sprag and haven't broken one in the last 3 years at 550 - 700+ rwhp.
