Default solid roller vs hydraulic

i currently have a hydraulic roller setup on my car. I was wondering what the differences were(reliability wise) between hydraulic and solid roller setup. the car will be daily driven and i was wondering if thats plausable with a solid roller setup. the bottom end is built to handle a little over 7k rpms so im not worried about winding out the motor. are their any drawbacks to the solid roller other than adjusting the rocker arms more often? how often do you have to adjust them? is there any other maintenance i would have to worry about with solid rollers? do you think its a good idea or no? the motor can handle it, the only thing im worried about is reliability and the fact that it will be daily driven.

depending on how much you drive it and how you drive it will depend on how often you adjust them. if it were me i would stay hydraulic unless the car is going to be a weekend driver or strictly a race car i would do solid roller. NOW on the other hand, a friend of mine said that he had a solid roller on his white 94 'vette but with 1.7:1 rockers and never had any problems as far as reliability or adjusting them or anything. but then again everythign in his motor was top dollar. im building a 355 LT1 and i went ahead and chose hydraulic rather than solid roller. i just dont want to be adjusting the rockers every other week or every oil change. pulling the valve covers will get tiring after a while trust me. im in the houston area too man maybe we can hook up or something man. im hoping to get my car back and running in a couple of weeks. pm me i'll give you my # and help you out if you want man.

no problem, if i can every figure out what the heck is wrong with my car. a valve is tapping for some reason. i adjusted everything with the motor running and also with the motor off. i checked the pushrods and they are fine. the lifters have maybe 800 miles on them so i dont think they would have collapsed. im thinking maybe a busted spring but if not that then it has to be a lifter or something. going to get a spring puller tomorrow and hopefully will be able to figure out what the deal is. the heads cam package only has about 800 miles on it. the power is really nice but i want more. thats why im looking into a solid roller setup. cell is 281.684.1545. im always around driving around houston when the car is running

I daily drove my solid roller 396 last year for 8500 miles....never a problem. I adjusted lash 3 times last year, but only 2 were necessary since the valvetrain was brand new. Last time I checked it, the lash was right on after 5000 miles. You dont have to set it as much as people think...new technology, not the old days anymore <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
