Default Engine break-in?

I'm new to the board... I've been reading it for a while and had an account for a couple months but never posted anything.

Anyways I'm just about done with my heads and cam swap on my LT1, and I'm wondering about the right way to break in the motor. I've heard a bunch of different things as far as mixing coolant and water, using synthetic oil on the first startup, all that stuff. I was just wondering what works best.

Thanks!

Just a heads / cam swap. I haven't done anything to the bottom end.

is it hydraulic or a solid roller setup?

im assuming hydraulic. since you dont have to break in any rings or anything, its a little different. you can romp on it a lot sooner but it would be best to heat soak the springs before really getting on it good. since you have a cam to break in also, the break in is a little different. it requires a little bit more of a break in, dont want to flat lobe it. when you first start it up, give it a few minutes to allow the lifters enough time to pump up. let it idle a little to make sure the entire valvetrain is lubed up nicely. take it easy for the first 50 or so miles, change the oil. get on it a little more for the next 50-100 miles, then change the oil again. after that, i would say romp on it a few times intermittantly for the next 100 miles, then change the oil again. after that it should be good. a lot of people will say that i change the oil too much, but i would rather not have stray metalic particles floating around in my oil if they dont need to be. especially when breaking in new parts.
