Dead Opti This is on a 94 Z28 4L60E. It seemed to also start smoking black a little then started missing a little too, The plugs are not fouled out, wires are great., I put a new coil on. No check engine light. Is it the Opti? Is it the PCM? I also think I was having a problem with my throttle posetion sensor before this happened if that makes a difference. I still have not replaced it either. What about the Opti? Who has the best one? MSD? ACCEL? Help please!! Thanks! ..

I think the GM one is generally reguarded as the best one. the MSD has a nice feature of being able to adjust timing manually(mainly for advance, and retarded cams). Do a search for the different ones. each one has had a run in with issues.
I think the TPS can make the car run rich, is what it sounds like. Get an test meter, and a service manual and check the signals(how many volts) at closed and WOT at the sensor....

The GM one is easily the worst one.
That's why all the others came out in the first place. There would have been no market for them if the GM one didn't have so many problems.

The company's woulda come out with replacemnt opti's no matter what. They know people will go off a reputation before a product has even proven itself.
