Doing head and cam install.
Got the water pump stub out and it has the normal slight wear from the seal. The wear is no more than .002" or so but you can feel it. I really dont want to take a chance on reusing as-is it for fear of leaking.

Can I take it to a machine shop and have it turned down just enought to remove the wear or should I just replace it?

If the the drive stub is worn, it'll leak oil. This is your call. I just did a quick search and found it for $50 here :
