Default Piston to valve clearance Questions

My heads have been decked at least .030, and Im planning on useing the standard thickness felpro gasket. With the stock bottom end what might be a general rule on the max duration and lift for the camshaft?

I dunno the exact amount, but I was having issues with shaved heads and my cam only has a .556" lift. I bent two valves doing this.

from what ive heard you can push lt1 heads to .600" of lift but you have to fly cut the pistons so the valves dont hit the pistons. this is what ive heard anyone else can chime in if they know different.

Well I know for a fact that you can run a .600 lift cam on the stock bottom end. The GM847 cam is .595 with 1.6s on the exhaust side, and there are plenty of people with that cam. I think that duration has more to do with clearance issues than lift. I know that every setup is going to be slightly differnent, but im just looking for some general numbers not to go over.

My heads were shaved .022, head gaskets .027 cometics, stock lower end, cam duration in the 230s, .576 lift, bigger than stock valves 2.00 and 1.56 with no/zero Pistons to valve drama. I was told I could go bigger and in hindsight I wish I had, in fact I'm down due to some small issues and while I was under the car I noticed I have an oil leak so I'm seriously thinking about pulling the engine and stepping up to a stroker .

my cam was .605 with a shaved head and LT4 gaskets on a 383 with -16 cc pistons, and 6 " rods, never a issue, not stock bottom end but worked mint
