Im just throw out a suggestion. I have used TH-350 and TH-400 from ATI Racing in Balimore (local to a certain degree to me) and they are awsome i know guys that send **** from cali to ati transmissions. they have pretty good Torque converters also. the th-350 wasnt a tbrake but the 400 was.. has gone 3 years in a braket racing 9 second chevelle every weekend for 3 years! but thats prolly a little farther away than you would like.

That has crossed my mind but then I could not break the record I am going after.

Still not out of the question though.

You know I second that Tony.... An ATI tranny/converter sits in my car and it ran about 15 low 10 second passes and still ran just fine.... bout the same RWHP on spray as what you have now NA.... I'm just going to go to a different converter for the new setup but run the same tranny and internals until it proves it can't handle the power.....

and their shipping from baltimore is no worse that if you got a hood or sumthin sent... you pay truck freight and it'll be cheaper if it goes to a business versus a home...

I've considered the glide option but won't go there until my 400 explodes....

sweet pics BTW. i went to my local track carless yesterday to support my boy and his low 9 sec 65 Nova (which will be on Pinks All out very soon) and I felt shitty.... Nothing like going to the track when your car ain't done to make ya feel like crap. It's like starving and handling plastic fruit...

I have nothing against John but have yet to hear of any of his trannies living behind any real power. Both Moe and Nitro Dave couldn't get them to live (I know of the 'rumored big block with a 700R4', but at this point I think it's a myth ). Tell him to get that crappy transbrake setup out of there and replace it with a completely new valvebody, or find a new builder. I have no doubt he knows his trannies, but I think you're wasting too much time with his 'experiments'.

He is using all new stuff this time.
He went with a brand new case. Also a brand new valve body from Art Carr and new transbrake solenoid and internals. Guess we will see. He is trying to make it right. Still thinks there is a crack in my case. Thats why he is not using any components from my unit. Starting over fresh.

Ok on a serious note, just curious what my T56-Rebuilds LT1 T-56 tranny would hold up to in the 1/4 (generaly speaking, ballpark, etc)? Joe @T56 sent off all the internals for Micronite surfacing, all the general rebuild parts, Viper hardened gears, snycros, steel fork, etc, stock mainshaft (just Micro'd), it is coupled with a McLeod billet steel FW & twin disc. This all mounts to a custom 3' cmoly double 1350 UJ DrvSft tied to a custom 9" w/Strange Race Case, Oversized pinion bearings, Strange Full Spool, Strange 4:56gears & Moser 31spl axles with 5/8"x3" wheel studs.

Would my tranny be ok for say high 9's? I realize mid/low 9's I'd probably be looking at 33 spline axles but thats down the road...just shooting for high 9's by early next year.

Good to hear John's on top of things then. Sucks that you didn't get 1 pass from the last time you pulled it out.

I don't see why your T56 won't go 9s. My T56 is nothing special (though it is pro shifted, which removed the breakable little nubby gear teeth) and has gone low 10s. I expect it to go high 9s "someday" (whenever I get off my lazy **** and get back to the track). Only 'upgrade' is a steel 3-4 fork. Still have plastic fork guide bushings in it.
