Default TCI torque converters

Wahst are every ones opinion on these are they a pretty reliable T/C I will be looking to buy around a 3500-4000Tc in a month or so fo e my H/C set-up and i want to find a good T/C. I was looking at a yank 4000 but really do not want to go that high in price if i dont have to.

SOme have had problems some have had success. You're going to get that about every converter. I'd look into vigilante, edge racing, and perhaps performabuilt (they're a vendor, can find them very easily in the automatic trans section on here)..

the thing with tci in the past has been their lock up clutches going out, yank and vig have rock solid reputations for god knows how long with solid converters both lock up and non, i'm sure there are newer companies out there that can make a good converter but at the same time in the past on this board there has been a case of a company coming on board as a sponsor selling a low priced converter and then had problems with them and went out of business and after people still had converters under warranty and had problems and were basically screwed. tci has been around for a while but is more known for their non lockup converters, an upgraded lock up clutch will fix this but usually it has to be ordered through tci directly

I like Edge cost a little more then TCI and a lot less than Yank or Vig. They are custom built like a Yank but do not have a billet cover like Yank does and that is where the cost savings is.

I honestly do not know if the ProEdge is billet or not, honestly though I see the billet thing as more marketing than anything else. Not saying nobody needs it just that only a small fraction of those who pay the extra $200 to have it might be able to take advantage of that strength.

A billet case keeps you from having to have an anti-ballooning plate.
