Default Slicks

Anyone using these? From what I have heard from a few people, these are some good gripping tires.

I would run a radial tire for your setup.

Why do you recomment that, just wonderin..
I am buying these and putting them on a second set of rims to switch off at the track. Eventually I plan on getting a stall, and some other stuff, so I am getting these to save money.

The ET streets are great for a car you want to drive to the track on the slicks and they do hook very well for most folks.

For a car with little suspension work meaning you are relying on the tire to do the hooking and one that you will always do the tire change at the track I think the Hoosier QTPs are a good choice, about as aggressive a tire as you can go with DOT approval not that you can run them on the street but it is good enough for "street" class racing at most tracks.
I have run them in 26x10.50 and 27x11.50 and pulled the drivers front tire off the ground with both best 60ft of 1.614 . I do not have a lot of experiance with other tires though research lead me to these and given the results I will not stray anytime soon.

I have little suspension work, Airlift bags with offset pressure to help level the rear at launch pulled swaybar for better launch and stiff shocks all round, BMR LCAs so it is the tire doing the hooking not the suspension. My suspension is differnt than yours but you get the point.

Only the best....Mickey Thompson Drag Radials.

You can do very well with 16x8 rims w/ 255/60/16s on them. People have great results.

Auto cars seem to like radial tires more too. 1. Because they dont have much play, when they hook they hook. Unlike a bias ply, you have the tire wading and giving play in the drivetrain.

K, that's some good info. That guy had 2.00 60ft's, but he was probably spinning the crap out of them. My quickest is a 1.93, and that was 275/40ZR17 BFG KDWS tires.
I am looking at the 275/40 MT DR, but if people are getting good results with the 255's on stock rims, that will save some money, and keep it lookin like a sleeper with the stock rims all around.

I have the 255/60/16's and I pulled a 1.71, Trust me, the M/T radials are awsome! I have two friends that had the M/T ET streets bais-ply and they had trouble hookin up as were I hooked every time.

I have the ET Streets you started this thread with. They're 3 years old and still cut me a 1.53 60' on stock shocks and springs, no sway bar.

BTW, when I feel these have given out, then I'm going to go with the ET Drags.

I am looking for a set of V6 stock springs to put in the back of it when I race. That way when I launch, I can get it to sink back a bit.

Merv,

I had the BFG DR's 17 315, and they grip like glue, pulled a nice 1.8 launching a bit over idle, I recommend them for the price and performance, and I use to drive on them all over the place, but they wont last over 4-5k miles.

If you want to have deferent wheels for the tracj get 255 MT's on the shooters, some of the boys here are pulling some kick *** 60' with them.
