EVAP cannister shot...What to do?
#3
Were is this actually located I never knew the LT1 had a EVAP cannister or I might have just taken it off. You arent talking about the AIR pump and assembly are you. If it is that you can remove the whole thing plug the holes.

The evap canister is behind the rear driver side wheel. I had the same problem and just replaced the canister, solenoid, and vacuum sensor. I'm not sure if there's a good way to bypass the system, but you will most likely throw codes if you don't remove those codes from the PCM.

From a physical standpoint I just need to either bypass the cannister or gut the cannister.
With my new engine in the work I dont want charcol going down its pie hole.

Were does the vaccume line for this attach to the engine.
Edit NVM I found out hmm I think I might try to bypass this or just lose it totally I have to get a tune for H/C set-up anyway.

why would you bother getting rid of it? it doesn't affect performance at all to leave it on there plus you would have to get a venting gas cap, which i don't think you can, which will also not pass the pressure test. all the evap does is hold fuel vapors until it purges into the intake. it only does that at cruise. kinda like egr, which also doesn't affect performance in any way shape or form.

1. It caused dangerous pressure build up in the tank when the line clogged with charcoal.
2. It dumped some amounts of charcoal into my engine.
3. Provent to be unreliable.
I am thinking that the system will still work although it wont be filtering with the charcoal, it should still burn up.

Since mine was not venting cause of the charcoal clogged line, it blew like a leaf blower during the summer when the cap was removed. Actually pretty scary thinking about it if I had a wreck since the vapors are more explosive than the gas.
