Default what springs to use?

Im looking to get a cc503 cam for chistmass and i was wondering what sort of valve springs i should use with it (size, seat pressure, type of spring, ect). Should i stay with the stockers or go with some aftermarket ones and if so which ones? Also im on a pretty limited budget so any help would be great. Also is it ok to reused the stock lifters? i have about 105k on the motor.

Cam swaps are never cheap! 918 springs are very expensive but supposedly work great. I have heard very few complaints about them. Although they are overkill, its better to spend an extra 100$ and be safe. you will have to get matching retainers and locks (call comp they will help), and you should get some rockers to help with that cam. I would also think about getting some new stock lifters to be safe. Call Jason Cromer for those.

In reality, you should be fine with stock lifters, from what I've been told. I replaced mine at about 106k. I use the 918s, and they are great. Havn't had any problems. Just had to find a tool to compress them. Ended up getting the one from Thunder Racing, lets you do two at once. Tried one from schucks, and one from craftsman.. broke both. haha Be sure to get some nice roller rockers.. I got the pro magnum 1.6, non-self aligning. Just don't forget to order guideplates, like I did.

what guide plates did you use? I was told to get the ones off a 89 L98 vette motor with alum heads.

Yep Bowtie Aluminum Guideplates.....

The beehive 918's that everyone recomends, AREN'T expensive! I guess if you compare them to $150 spring kits they are but in reality they are much better than anything else you get out there for the $$$.
