Its easier to do it when it all is apart.

Do it once do it right.

Thunder Racing sells entire sets called "Cam Swap" sets which include all the gaskets that are required or suggested you replace during the swap. All I purchased on top of that was an OE replacement timing set from GM.

I used everything in the gasket set besides the TB gasket. Defiantely something to look into.

Wait until you can afford it. That's a big job and you won't want to do it twice. Don't skimp on internal motor work. Do it right.

Hey, you asked for our opinions. Dont get offended when we give them to you. My opinion.......

Its just pointless to tear it all apart. Put the cam in. Put it all back together again. Then do the same thing shortly down the road for a timing chain.

It doesnt seem to me that he is just tearing it down and throwing a cam in. Felpro gaskets, cane springs, ls6 rollers, new pushrods, 1.6's, guideplates, new studs....it may just be me but i think thats more than just throwing a cam in there....he was just pointing out that he asked a question that no one was answering. Anyway im done with my rant

I consider a cam swap "tearing it down".

Learn how to read buddy and comprehend english. Of course a cam swap is tearing it down but I am saying that hes not just tearing it down and just throwing in a cam with nothing else.

exactly.. ive dont a good job with my parts for the swap. Im not just wingin it and hoping everything holds together. ive spend a good amount of money on my parts. I am scheduled to have it done friday at noon and I dont have time to get a timing chain set. However, im going to be buying them and me and gotv-8 are going to be putting them in over winter. I was asking if anything was complete nessesary that i was missing. Plain and simple
