help with 4l60e

help with 4l60e Ive been looking for a 4l60e for a little while to rebuilt and beef up for a stall. Now im just looking for a core for the whole rebuild. lets get to the point.. every junk yard i called told me the only one that will fit in my car will be one from an other 95 fbody. whats so special about this? why cant i just get one from a k series truck or any 95-97 fbody? did they change the pumps or valve body that much?

Might consider using a shop that gets their own cores or will charge you na core charge till you give them your tranny in exchange.
94 was the first year of the 4L60E and it was not PWM, 95 was the introduction of PWM which was tweeked a little for 96, other trannies could be made to work but will not be 100% dropin.
Just a word of caution find a shop with a known good reputation for building THIS exact tranny for this usage and rely on customer feedback from customers who have been abusing the tranny a few years.
A lot of shops claim to be able to do it but can't and a lot opf folks give positive feedback upon install but then the tranny goes in 6 months to a year. It is not like an engine where a lot of shoddy work will showup immediately what seperates a good from a bad tranny build is does it last a year or YEARS.
