The block is the same on the Impalla SS as the Camaro and Firebird. Some Caprices came with a 4.3L version of the LT1.

False information. Do you really think a 3500lb sports car would get the same cam as a 4200 lb sedan? I think not.

Other than that...the aluminum heads we have. That may be it but I'm not sure.

Intake is the same, Fuel Injectors are the same, the Fuel Rails are different. The F-Bodies have the connects on the Drivers side.

B-bodies have the fuel connections on the drivers side as well.

People love to beat up on iron heads and the "smaller cam". Reality is the irons outflow most of the aluminums and aluminum holds no maginc for making power. Yes it can allow more compression but the .4 higher compression the aluminum head LT1 got over it's iron head counterpart is hardly enough to be a big deal.
The cam in the b-body is not that different. The more I learn the more I realize that the difference in power ratings between the b-body and f-body had more to do with the b-body having grandpa quiet intake and exhaust as well as 87 octane tuning as opposed to the f-body 91 octane. Those who have made the mistake of asuming the f-body motor is much better than the b-body and swapped stock f-body motors into b-bodies have complained of slight lowend torque losses at least until they gave it a little stall or gear.
A well done bolton b-body is capable of around 300rwhp thru the automatic, far as I know that is ballpark what a well done bolton f-body does thru an auto too.
