Strange starting prob?
I drive roughly 9 miles home and stop at the mailbox to pick-up the mail, I turn the car off cause the mailbox key is on the car keyring. When I get back in the car (20 seconds give or take) it acts like the battery is flat and struggles to turn over the motor?.
I put a load tester on the battery today and it was reading fine. The gauge cluster reads normal charge all the time till after checking the mail, then it reads low?.
After I get it started I drive it about 300 yrds to the house and park it for the night, then in the morning it fires right up?.
Any ideas?

I've had the car for around 18 months but this problem started last week, it did it once then was fine for a couple of days. I'm worried about about it now because its happened 2 days in a row now.
The car has 160,000 miles and is daily driven, it is due for a tune and I have a exhaust manifold "ticking" noise on the drivers side that quietens after 1/2 mile, but the car runs and drives fine, no overheating problems during the trips to and from work.
Thanks for the help guys, i'll check the starter wiring this weekend and call in at Autozone this week and have them check the alternator.

or you could just put your mailbox key on another ring

I'm starting to err on the side of bad battery, I put a multimeter on it today and was only getting just 12 volts which dropped 1/2 volt when I turned the key on motor not running.
