Default dumb question about headers

hey guys. im dropping the lt1 in my monte and i need some headers. will the headers that are made to fit my car and the stock 1986 305 v8 fit on the lt1? this may be a stupid question, but all the headers i see that say they are made for lt1's are for camaros/firebirds/impalas/etc and i dont want to get the ones for the monte if they will not work. thanks

The heads have the same 23* valve angle as the older Gen1 cars (the exhaust ports are located in the same spot). I would make sure that the primary tubes are at least 1 5/8". A 1 5/8" stepped to a 1 3/4" would be about the best for your 350.

the headers for the 305 would bolt up but the exhaust port shape is different, the lt1's of course have D shaped exhaust ports, because of the different shaped it might cause a restriction but it might still be better than factory manifolds

If he is useing the stock heads he would be better off useing a round port header. This way he won't have a restriction.

I have seen Gen I Heads used on LT1's that weren't in F-cars. The reason that they stick with a cretian design on the LT1 f-car is cause that there is no space at all in the Engine bay.

so standard sbc headers should do ok then? i dont want to cause any restriction because of the difference in exhaust port shapes. are there any other options i.e. a header made for the lt1 but not for the lt1 cars?

There are headers for the B-bodies, such as impalas, caprices.

I dont know if those would work though
