Default Dual cat to single

What all is needed to do this if I buy shorty headers intended for 93-95's, but for my dual cat '95? Mostly I'm worried about the cat attaching to my exhaust. How far off will they be and what can I do for it?

And yes, I did lots of searching.

I think all that is needed is the SLP "s" pipe for installing a loud mouth on a 93-95. Can anyone confirm this? My car has the SLP 3in catback already. Anyone?

Not going the work. The driver's side shorty header collector will be located too low to mount the driver's side cat and will not have the right shape to mount the cat (not the standard pattern).

Just buy a after market Y- pipe and put the cat at the end of the Y-pipe

Not true! My friend's 95 A4 CA car came with dual cats, my 95 M6 CA car came with a single cat. I bet you friend's car is a M6.

My car has dual cats. It was made Feb. of '95. I'm thinking about buying the SLP shorty headers WITH the yipe for 93-95 vehicles. The Shorty header design for single cats is better than the dual cat setup. So I *should* only need a high flow cat, the s pipe to attach to my cat back and be good. I don't want shortys but I don't want to deal with trying to get my car smogged every two years and possibly dealing with getting pulled over and messed with by the cops. If I still lived in Vegas I wouldn't be worried about it.

I just want someone to confirm what I need to do this. I've looked at the pictures in my Haynes manual and it looks like I have the right idea.

Won't work, the Cat has to be close to the Engine for the Heat of the Exhaust.

I have a 95, it had a Single Cat, had all the California crap in it also. There are many variations throughout 1995, a few things were changed around between the 95/96 transition.
