Spark Plug Change
Spark Plug Change You guys have saved the day once again. My car has been hesitating and breaking up during heavy accelaration. While I was under my car fixing a busted freeze plug I decided to check a couple of plugs and see how they looked. The plugs looked good with a nice even tan color. What caught my attention was the type of plug. I decided to log on and do a search on this forum for the Bosh Platinum plugs, since I had no experience with them. I have always been taught that platinum and multi tips were only sales gimmicks with no performance value.
I learned through the search that many people had problems with the Bosch Platinum's, so I did a couple more searches to see what type of plugs were popular for our cars. Lucky for me Autolite came in near the top of the list. I have been using Autolite plugs for years. After visiting three parts stores I finally found some Autolite 106's.
After spending an hour and a half changing the plugs, I was exited to take it for a test drive. I was hoping the plugs would help, but deep down I was really afraid I was experiencing the early signs of an opti failure.
Wow! What a huge difference the plug change made. From a 20mph roll it broke the tires loose and pulled fast and smooth up to 6000 rpm. It even spun a little on the 1-2 shift. I have been messing with cars for longer than I care to admit and have never saw such a dramatic seat of the pants feeling from a plug change, unless atleast half were fouled out.
