does a bunch of emissions crap and clutters up your engine bay. the only benefit to removing that crap is a cleaner engine bay. you probably wont pass emissions without those things. if you have taken them off along with your cat like me your cars exhaust smell is going to be intense so don't leave it on in your garage without extremely good ventilation.

when you take them off you wilk need the egr blockoff plates and some type of plug for the heeaders. i used a 1 3/4 drain plug i think to plug my as&m headers.

They are both for emisions control. If you have emissions testing in your area, you will want to keep them both operable. The main benifit to removing them is it cleans uo the engine bay and makes the car a little easier to work on. You won't see a performance advantage. Some people report losing a couple of mpg after removal of the egr.

Yes, just get headers with the emission hook ups. I'm pretty sure you will have to run shorties or mid lengths and keep the cat's in the original location in order to stay legal. Someone will correct me if I am wrong.

If you guys have looked at a LT4 real close, you will notice that it doesn't have EGR from the Factory. The EGR helps take the Cylinder temp. down while it is running on the LT1.
