balancer ok so either im stupid or i need some advice...this part on summit

when you get this do you still have to bolt the big *** stock thing that looks like this below to the front???

because thats how the car was when i bought it and i put it back like that but now that im looking at it do i really have to have that in the front or can i just bolt the first one straight to the crank hub??

ok wow im real confused
right now i have starting from the crank
the crank...to the underdrive pulley(which says harmonic balancer on that link) to the stock big *** thing that i dont even use the pulley off of
