Dont worry about reaction time, the clock starts when you move so dont race the tree....Improve on your 1/4 mile times and then start with reaction times....

Unless you are running slicks & skinny's there is no reason to roll through the water box. Drive around it and get your car straight, then roll the tires over to clear the tread. You don't need to do a smokey burnout on street tires. Watch your stageing lights carefully when you get close to the starting line. When your first staging light comes on stop and wait for the other competator to do likewise. Then move the car in for the second light to come on. When both of you finish staging the tree will start to drop. When you see the yellow lights on the tree coming down wait until the last yellow lights up and let her rip. That will get you close to having a decent reaction time and a feal for how bracket racing works. Then all you need to do is practice.

I would think it's less likely to break a stock car than a modified one.
I wouldn't waste track runs for just taking it easy. Thats what the street is for. You should know it's potential. Do a the first run, then if you spin alot, do a good burn out the 2nd time.

If you are working on RTs, watch the tree. First, start on the second yellow. Hit the throttle when you see it. Then work off that. If you are early, react later. If you are too late, react earlier. It is very easy; I have used this technique to get between .500-.600 reliably. Of course, your results will vary.
