89 Z28 does not have an LT1 in it unless someone swapped it in. They were L98 motors and used the standard cooling system and will not work on an LT1. The LT1 used the reverse cooling system and the heads can be made to work on a Gen 1 SBC motor (which the 89 came with), but it isn't just a bolt-on swap (I did this in my old car). Requires welding, drilling, and tapping of the heads and running extra coolant parts as well as an LT1 intake that must then be modified for a distributor hole and clearanced in the rear to make room for the distributor cap, etc. not to mention the remote thermostat housing that must be used as well.

If you meant 98 instead of 89...the LS1 heads will not work on an LT1 nor the other way around.

L98 heads ('89) < LT1 heads ('94) < LS1 heads ('98)
