Impala head gasket...Is there a top & bottom surface?

Impala head gasket...Is there a top & bottom surface? As the title says.
I am putting the heads on and the Impala head gasket cleary is different on both sides and there is no indication of a top surface.
One side shows more of the actual metal sealing surface than the other.
Does it matter?
