I just bought my '95 T/A 3 weeks ago with a horrible sounding knock - I found 3 bad rod bearings in it #2, 3 & 4. In process of re-buillding now. #3 rod bearing was completely gone..good 1/8 clearance all the way around between the rod and the crank journal - and the motor STILL held 40 psi of oil pressure. Figure that one out....

Pulled the motor myself...I have pretty well set up shop (pit underneath and overhead jib crane). I have the long block down at a local machine shop - these guys have always done my machine work and balancing. I usually assemble the engines myself - but I'm going to have them do it this time and they are going to run it on their break-in machine. Don't have a bill yet...but they guistimated $2500 to $2700. That is everything new - just using block and heads castings.

That's not that bad at all.. I spent about $2k on mine. Got a 4-Bolt Block, had the Crank checked and polished, kept my Heads/Intake, and the Cam. Got a Roller Chain, Forged Rods and Pistons, Melling Oil Pump, and some good Gaskets.
