You say the car has been in storage. How long has it been since you put gas in it? Did you put an fuel stabilizer in the tank before you stored it? It sounds like you might have some bad gas in the tank (or at least it is starting to turn bad). try putting 5 gallons of new gas in the tank and drive it around for a little while.
If it is still getting hot, flush the cooling system and re-fill it. If it has Dexcool in it, make sure you change it out as it needs to be changed just like the green stuff, just not as often. Make sure the air dam is on under the car as it keeps the air moving through the radiator at a stop.

First off i would like to say thanks to everybody.
Ok went down today and work on the car. Took the TB coolant Bypass back off didnt change anything. I took the CAI off while the car was running and it stalled so it the MASS air flow sensor has to be working. I took the chip off still was missing out, backfiring, and now its back firing through the Intake. And running rough when its in gear. Checked the plugs, wires they are fine. It has a new fuel filter on it.The car has been in storage all winter, but i do go down and start it once a week and let it get up to normal operating temp.I can see it spark knocking from bad gas but bogging down and backfiring from bad gas i dont really know. I think it has to be a sensor, because when the car first starts up and its in closed loop it runs fine, but when the thermostat pops and it goes into open loop is were is starts to have problems, But there is no check engine light on. I am going to take the chip off and change the thermostate tomm. and see where that gets me. Thanks

Well just wanted to give you guys an up date. I took the hypertech chip off and put new gas in it and it runs fine for now. I dont know if the chip was advancing the timing to much for the old gas or what but i drove it around today let it get hot and it didnt do anything, i have a hypertech 160 degree thomo coming wed. thanks mongoose z28 and everybody else.
