Newly Assembled LT1 w/Solid Roller cam
After breaking it in around Houston, I changed the oil/filter and drove her back to Upstate New York. She never missed a beat. After spending the night in Little Rock, Ar, I set the lash (Hot) to .010. It idled a bit better, more evenly and more quietly. I was able to get a freeway on ramp kill(another LT1 4th Gen Z28) in Nashville with the new motor. It has quite a bit of cam surge below 2,500 but if you step on it in 3rd (don't bother with 1st or 2nd, it just spins the street tires) it pulls nicely to about 3,500 and then gets serious and really starts breathing. With the 4.10s in back and the T56 in 6th gear, most of the long trip was at 74mph with the cruise control on, showing 2,100 or so on the factory tach. The car sounds strong, noisy (with the solid lifters) and doesn't like stumbling around in town at low RPM's. I think I'll keep this cam/valve train in through this summers racing (New Lebanon's track), then swap in a milder hydraulic roller (an old favorite, CC 224/236 is likely).I'm going to take the car over to Albany to a chassis dyno and see what she'll pull. I'll post the results after that.
