Default Two LT1 ram air questions!!

1.) I am upgrading from a cool air intake to ram air on my 95 formula and was wondering if it would be worth changind the maf? Mine is the stock one with the black screen inside... I didn't know if the stock ws6 ram air came with the same one or a different one if you got the ram air? Are the aftermarket ones that claim to let more airflow in actually worth it??

2.) I am going to put a stock ws6 airbox in the formula and I have to cut the hood to fit the box... Does anyone have sugestions about sealing the box off with a rubber seal on the top of the box? My box doesn't have any seal and I was wondering what people have done to contain and trap more of the air in the box with any sort of seal??

thanks in advance guys!

It's not really worth changing the MAF on the car if your only in the bolt-on stages. I could probably see it being worthwhile when everything behind the MAF exceeds it in airflow. Also, the ram airs all use the same MAF.

I am assuming you have a ram air hood otherwise I wouldn't cut the stock hood to get airflow in. A CAI would be a better choice if you still have the factory formula hood. My stock ram air box has a fairly thick rubber gasket glued to the box. I've seen people glue thick foam around the box to seal it so thats worth a shot.

The stock maf is good for any situation.. aftermarket mafs are a waste... I built a TTLS1 car making 800rwhp using a stock maf

To seal the airbox you just need to find some nice thick foam to stick/glue to it

i made good power going speed density because i just dont like MAF's unless im running a dry kit ill retune but you can cut the stock firebird hood above where the latch is. i did that to my formula and picked up .2 tenth.. we ported a set of heads flowing in the 330's to only pick up .3 tenths so on your factory setup without buying a new hood it works well. ill try to post up picks of mine if you need help or PM me.
