Electric water pump Im in the middle of ordering an electric water pump for my lt1. now my question is that without removing the drive gear and having the hole tig welded shut, what leakage problems can occur. All seals and brand new but i did notice that the coupling from the factory water pump to the drive gear has a seal and wondered what would be the best action to take. The timing cover is already on and sealed so im trying to avoid a new gasket and having to repaint everything.
You do not have to remove the gear or drive from the block. just remove everything from the wp plug the hole with the freeze plug they supply weld the hole up in the timing cover and you should be good. I actually wondered the same thing a couple weeks ago I am removing the gear and drive from the block tho just because it is already torn down.
