Default 94 Z28 but 97 LT1 Engine (Value?)

Well I got to looking and found out that my car is a 94 Z28 but the engine is a 97 LT1 based off the block vin code.

So I am wondering now what will this change mainly as far as the vaccum system goes and the evap system. Also any other thoughts as far as what might not work?

The motors was already installed with wiring harness/pcm and some sensors.

I assume I need to go by the diagram for the 96-97 to get those properly setup.

Any help or ideas is great.

Thanks,
Mike

Yeah, the hoses are not there but the opti is vented.

I have an auto transmission in it as well. Towards the rear of the transmission there is a sensor with no plug going to it. Yet I have a plug that reaches it but it doesn't match up to the plug.

Both engine and trans are a 97.

I am not sure. I was going by the diagram on shbox.com.

Here are pics of the sensor and plug in question. Pics are alittle blurry just not much room to get pics under the car. lol

It is located on the tailshaft of the transmission.

I also might just sell this drivetrain as well so any help on how much this etup would go for would be great as well.

It's a 97 LT1 with a 0 mile rebuild.
Auto tranny with a 0 mile rebuild and a small 2200 or so stall.
If not sold seperatly there would be bbk shortie headers with full exhaust that has a 3" cutout and flowmaster muffler.

Not sure what I would ask if I decide to sell those as well.

Thanks,
Mike

The plug is the VSS, I don't know about that Tranny Connection. On the Engine, is there a Crank Sensor, it's a little Sensor on the bottom of the Timing Cover.

Well I didn't see the sensor on the bottom as I didn't think to look. I have the 2 vacuum hose location off the optispark and I went off the block vin for the year. The opti also takes the longer plug vs the short one.

That is what I was wondering.

I am uncertain if the harness is going to fully work on the motor as I am unsure if the harness is for a 97 or 94. So far it seems all plugs match up to something but not sure.

I guess one way to tell is if I have the crank angle sensor plug on the harness or not?

Well, I went and check the car and there is no crank sensor. I do have a knock sensor though.

The blocks year vin is the letter V for 97 but maybe the cover isn't from a 97. So maybe the previous owner is still using the ecu and harness from a non 97 car so this should be fine?

Thanks guys,

Mike

You'll need a 97 Harness and ECM if you want to run it as a 97 motor. I'm sure a 97 motor can easily be converted to a 94 though with the right sensors and other parts. I'd just make it a 97 though, OBDII

So to make it OBD 2 I woudl have to swap the harness & PCM unless they are already OBD2.

Any way to check on the PCM to see if its obd1 or obd2?

Thanks,
Mike

Get a scanner. That'll tell you. Or just check the PCM and write down the numbers and then check online.

But yes, to run OBD2 you'd have swapping to do.

Well I pulled the computer out of the car I noticed someone has marked it as a 94 LT1 M6.

So now I have a 94 M6 PCM, a 1997 Engine, Non-1997 timing chain cover, vented optispark, Auto Tranny and what I would assume is a 94 Engine Harness.

lol, alot of different years a mixing from what I can tell. What would be the easiest way to get this all straight with minimal problems?

Thanks,
Mike

I don't think the tranny's changed any from 94-97, but I don't know anything about 4L60E's since mine is the one year that didn't get it (first year, 93).

Minimal problems? A 94/95 Longblock
