Default Friday 13th whats wrong with my car?

So today we did the following..

Seafoam
New Plugs
New o2s (we had to cut the wires and reconnect them to the new o2 sensors so that it was compatible with the harness.. we are not positive if the drivers side is wired correct)
Switch to Synthetic oil
Cleaned MAF
Cleaned TB

Now the car shutters at idle, at lock up and when you first get on the gas to leave say a red light (leaving idle)

Something is backfiring like hell and it sounds like its coming from the passenger side. Its popping a lot but not exactly consistently if you know what I mean.. my friend driving behind me said he saw some smoke and it was shooting flames on some but not all the pops

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG?!?

How did you wire the o2's in? DONT use crimp connectors, this can change the reading coming from the sensors.

Well that is probably half the problem. Why did you have to rewire it anyways?

because the o2 sensors he had had harnesses that were round with the blue stripes on it. My o2 sensors have a flatter harness. So we just cut the wires and put it on but one of them didnt have the same color wires so we werent sure about it.. but that one is on the drivers side and the backfiring definately feels like its coming from the passenger side

make sure that the wires to the plugs arent touching the headers or anything. my friend changed his plugs and wires and it sounded good at first and ran fine, but soon after the wire burned through and did the same thing as yours.

I hope you seafoamed it THEN put in the new O2 sensors. Otherwise you might be putting in new O2 sensors.

And how did you clean the MAF? Carefully I hope, not to break the sensor part's thin **** wires. Unplug the MAF and see if that helps, since it'll fall back on the MAP tables.

seafoamed first.. then new o2s. I used CRC to clean the maf. i just sprayed it. Do you think dropping a spark plug could do it? I dropped one on the passenger side and that seems to be where the backfiring is coming from.

Doesn't hurt to look. It sounds like you have driven it far enough that any foul play on that cylinder will show up on the plug.

Well not sure cuz we don't know your problem exactly. I would say compared to your other plugs, it should be obvious whatever it is. Then replace that plug and go again. Did you check and make sure you don't have any plug wires crossed?

Did you bother to re-gap it after dropping it? Could've cracked the porcelain and the spark is jumping.

think i figured it out.. i pulled all four passenger plug wires.. all the insides of the plug boots look clean and silver except one.. which looks cruddy.. kinda like its rusting from not being used in a while. I think thats the culprit. Do you think this is because the plug isnt firing so the wire isnt doing anything? or do you think the wire is dead so the spark just is never gettnig there?

ill try to get a picture

so I followed that plug (Cylinder 4) wire back to the opti and i decided id just pull it out.. well without giving it barely any muscle it came out.. but the metal part stayed in the opti... you can see in the pic that the little metal thing thats supposed to be crimped around the wires in the plug wire is chillen in the opti.. so I guess that was a bad plug so Im pulling it.

only problem is that that could explain why I have been down on power but in the end.. the backfiring started friday after the tune up. So that covers one problem but not the other so Im still trying to figure it out.. im thinking o2 sensors but i wasnt smart enough to pull them and go for a drive before I did this so theres no telling now..

Now the question of the day is.. how the **** do i get that wire out? the wires run underneath some pipe below the alternator and i CANNOT get this thing out..

this day keeps getting better..
does anyone have a pic of how the passenger wires on OVC sets are supposed to be run? I read a thread about someone having trouble with the wires passing behind the pulleys like how mine was stuck until i just cut the damn thing and i read a bunch of guys saying thats why OVC wires are so awesome. this leads me to believe that even tho they are OVC wires they werent wired correctly the rest of the way.

Anyways, the plug wire i pulled that ripped wasnt even the cruddy one so even tho it was broken.. its not what i was trying to pull. So that means Im gonna be down two cylinders.. either way its going to the shop and im having them redo my plug wires. If someone can show me how your supposed to route those passenger side plug wires for the OVC setup I might be able to do it myself but the way they are run now.. i cant do it

I don't know the answer to any of your questions but one. I do think that may be the gremlin. I'd fire it up with the wire off the plug. "Plug" it back into the Opti though so it doesn't arc somewhere else. See if it runs the same. I'd still replace the plug in that cylinder.
