With the wonderful accuracy of gauges in these cars, how about you give us a MPG number and not something so vague? It's pretty simple. Next time he fills up, reset the trip meter, drive a tank, fill it up at the same pump preferably... divide miles driven by how much gas you put in. How are his driving habits? 6 speed? Auto? Wheres he drive mostly? In town? Freeway? Gears? Mods? FWIW, my girlfriends 'stock 94 T/A A4 with 3.23's with a 60/40 mix freeway to city gets about 17MPG average. Car has 160K on it.

The car is a4 and is mostly stop and go. Im pretty sure he had a race in that full tank. But he is pretty much stock except for the full exhaust. Car has 140k.

Man, I get like 140 all the time. I don't drive the car hard at all in fact it never gets above 2500 rpms. I think its so bad because my work is about 5 minutes away and so my car never really gets warmed up.
Some of you guys get some crazy miles, any suggestions. New plugs wires and one 02 sensor.

94, A4, not running ac with 127000 pretty much stock except for cai, catback, and cat delete. I got 17.9 mpg babying it with all stop and go driving. A few tanks later I checked it with more normal driving, still all city and got 16.5 mpg.

wow...i have having some O2 sensors probs, i was getting shitty gas mileage. I unpluged the bank 2 sensor until i get a chance to take the manifold off and swithe them out. But i filled all the way up from empty. 14.000 gallons, 38.00 bucks. All city driving lead footed a few times and got about 275 miles to empty.
