I have a ways to go. Only have 68k. I have seen others up there in mileage though that still run great and look good. My Dad's 91 RS with the SWEET LO3 in it has 165k. Smokes a little and still runs strong for what it is.

I always wonder about if engines really tire out over time or not, HP wise. Ic an understand if the rings go out, worn valve springs, etc.... but does it ever really feel slower to a person over time?? Guess its hard to judge seeing as most of us are always modding, but as the mileage stacks up the car never seems to get any weaker.........

My first LT1 car was a 95 9C1 Caprice with over 220k on it when I bought it and 259k when I sold it. I put plugs, wires, a water pump, a p/s pump and a radiator in it the whole time I had it. The oil got changed every 4-5k. I sold it to my brother who is still using it as a daily beater. It's over 290k right now.

From what Ive heard LS1 dont see as high of miles cause they have piston ring issues.
Ive heard its from the coming from the factory with synthetics so the rings and bore never have a chance to wear together

yeah lt1s will run along time if taken care of.i had a 95 z28 m6 that was my daliy driver with 207,000 on the clock and it ran great.never used any oil betwwen oil changes had intake and flowmaster with no cat.it blowed the doors off a many a ricers and quite a few mustangs.i hit a deer with it one night and my insurance totaled the car but the engine still ran fine.a guy that lives around my area bought it for the engine and trans and put it in a s-10.i saw him running it at the dragstrip about a month ago.its still going strong!

I'm at 145k on my 01. I ran a bunch of 12.20s on the stock motor with bolt ons last week. The car uses less than a half quart of oil between oil changes. I'd say the piston rings are just fine.

With proper care an LT1 can last well over 200K, engines are mechanical, if they fail, its for a reason.

Good thread by far, I also was wondering how everyone felt about this! I would have to say that as long as you keep up on the maintenance they should last at least 200k to 300k miles as I've seen it often as well. Although when you dog your car (like I have a tendency to do) You seem to break things and blow things up sooner than you hope for...
