Default cc305 vs cc503

looking at the specs at these two, what is the difference? the duration and lift is close, but one is 112 lsa and one is 114 lsa. what is the difference in 112 and 114? looking for a good cam for a bolt on stock headed car, and ive decided to go with something better than a hotcam. i want a cam that will sound good, but will give good numbers. also i heard something about one of them you have to change out valve springs ever 20k miles, cant remember which one though. any info will be greatly appreciated.

Everyone seems to like the 224/230 or the 503. And with the right spings i dont see why you'd have to change them every 20K. It's not that much lift. Some 918's would be good.

i have a cc503 with crane 10308 valve spring kit, comp hi tech PR's, stock lifters, and GMPP 1.6 RR. the set up works quite well and sounds good and runs strong. it's a great cam for stock heads, however i have heard it really wakes up with a set of heads. i'll know for sure next weekend when i install a set of GTP heads on my car. i can get you a sound clip of my car at idle if you are interested in hearing what it will sound like.

going from a hotcam to a 305, you wouldn't see much of a difference- if any, in sound.

think about it 218/228, .525/.525" on a 112, vs 220/230, .510/.510 on a 114.

the *slight* bit of extra duration will more than be muffled by the extra 2* in LSA...

I've got a 503 on 1.6's in my car, absolutely LOVE the sound, and can't argue with the torque either... idles great, even at 800rpm.

go with a 503, you won't be dissapointed
