Default Backfirering when shifting

Alright it seems like whenever I shift at a higher RPM, my car basically backfires a little bit. Now I have talked to some people and some said that it is normal for that type of engine, yet at couple of people (a good friend and a mechanic) suggest that I could have a valve problem. So I was wondering if backfirering, when shifting, was normal or do i actually have a problem. Also if it is normal, could someone kind of explain to me why it is normal so I can explain it to the other people when I talk to them. Thank you very much.

running lean, EGR sticking, bad plugs, bad wires, bent valve, could be many things.

i solved my problem today. bad plugs.

ok so it isn't something that is normal? crap, well my plugs and wires are new so that shouldn't be the problem. I am really hoping that my valve isn't bent because that will really suck.

yea my buddy and i checked that and it seemed a little on the low side. we are going to tape the gauge to the winshield and take her out for a spin to see if it drops when driving. could a bad fuel pressure regulator be the problem?

Man, there are a number of things, just test it and go from there, i say you might have a weak pump possibly, i have seen many a LT1 pumps weak, but not enough to keep it from running. So do as you plan and go from there.

yea i just put in headers and the stock manifolds were in such bad condition, i actually had a leak from them. It never backfires at WOT only when im shifting. the car runs fine when im accelorating but as soon as i shift at a higher rpm, there is a small backfire or pop.

LT1's do that, expecially when you put Headers on them and open up the Exhaust.. Mine even did it and it was a Auto.. my friends M6 does it all the time, and we are both tuned a hair rich.
