Elec. Water Pump and Timing Chain?
I am about to order a new electric water pump. My question is which one do you guys prefer. It is a daily driven car and sees fairly long trips. I see their are two from Meizre i think that's how you spell it. A 118 and a 118hd. Also now that I am changing to an electric water pump and not a cam driven one can I run a conventional SBC timing set. I can get a better one for way cheaper than the LT4 HD Timing Set.
-Thanks

I'm running the Miezere HD Elec. wp and the pro gear single roll timing chain.
The WP has been great and the timing chain was too because I didn't have to do any grinding of my timing cover to make it fit. It's still a pretty thick chain though. Good luck.

I'd recommend the Miezere HD Elec over the CSR. I've seen more success stories with the Miezere than the CSR. Either will work just fine though. Just to note on the CSR unit you will have to grind 4 spots on the water pump to get the CSR to fit, cause they have 4 protrusions on the pump body.

I noticed last night when I was looking at some SBC timing sets that in the center of the cam gear their was no place for the shaft that runs the optispark. What is the part number for the Cloyes. Maybe I can get a picture of it. Mine is a 93" and has a provision in the cam gear for the optispark driveshaft.

You will have to go to a later model opti and i believe a longer cam dowel to eliminte the need for the opti drive in the center of the cam gear.
